Extraordinary Machine

Staring at my computer screen and I can’t seem to put my emotions into words. I think I will sleep and try again in the morning.

I’ve got a couple minutes before I have to start my day and I just needed to get all these feelings out.

We only have six more performances of Hairspray left. It’s truly mind blowing that two weeks from now I will be done with Hairspray. For me, this journey has been going on for about a year. From when I first heard the news that High Street would be producing Hairspray and one of my favorite directors would be directing to the auditions to closing night…this dream has been seven years in the making and now it’s almost over. 

I’ve been reliving the moment I found out I would be playing Tracy over and over in my head. Sitting in my Dad’s car with Nikko and Michael…pretty much coming to the realization that I wouldn’t be part of this show…when my phone rang and all I saw was “Shawn Lanz” on my caller ID. It was the moment of truth and I have never been more nervous to answer my phone.

The moment itself is such a blur but I remember a little small talk and finally the words I had been waiting to hear since I was sixteen, “We’d like you to play Tracy.” I screamed…I cried…I was, for the first time in my life, completely speechless. 

From that moment on it has been this whirlwind of a journey with the most amazing cast and crew a girl could ever wish for. I can’t believe it’s almost over, but you better believe that I am going to make every last performance and every last moment with this cast count. I have been truly blessed to start off 2012 with such an amazing show and group of people that I now call my friends. 

OMG…cannot wait!
